Daniel Lubetzky is the founder and executive chairman of Kind, a snack company. In this episode of #ThePlaybook, Lubetzky talks with host David Meltzer about his educational and professional background, the challenge of building his company, finding purpose and the "how" of his career and practicing kindness in a time of political polarization.

Lubetzky talks about the influence of his parents, who were Holocaust survivors and emigres to Mexico, and finding his passion as a connector of human beings. He describes how hard the first ten years of Kind were, how close he was to throwing in the towel and using his business's mistakes to make a playbook based on what not to do.

Lubetzky discusses the importance of perspective and purpose, commenting that, "You will persevere and work harder when you believe in what you are trying to achieve." He advises taking the time to learn and understand what truly matters on a personal level.

Lubetzky also recommends practicing kindness by developing empathy and judging others less, particularly those with whom we disagree. He advises entrepreneurs to focus on their toolkits, as the ability to adapt is crucial during a time of so much disruption and opportunity.
