Nearly two in five U.S. adults work a side hustle, according to a new Bankrate survey.

The opportunities are endless: from your run-of-the-mill tutoring and dog walking to more attention-grabbing examples, like retirees who rake in $20,000 per month answering questions online or people who turn simple household chores into lucrative new gigs.

With so many choices, how do you hone in on the right side hustle for you? You might start by considering some of the fastest-growing ones today.

Digital marketing company Yell Business examined data sourced from British market research company YouGov to find out which side hustles are taking off in 2023.

The research also explored which professionals are most likely to pick up an extra gig. Accountants came in at No. 1, with 8.73% saying they have a side hustle, and network managers and sales associates rounded out the top three, both clocking in at 7.31%.

That's right: The ultimate fastest-growing side hustle title goes to esports. Shorthand for electronic sports, it's a form of competition using online video games that boasted an audience of 532 million as of 2022 — and its global market revenue is expected to grow to as much as $1.87 billion by 2025, per Statista.
