Vebbler

What is the biggest problem in sharing photos with friends? It is the never-ending, mechanical process of giving and getting photos captured on each other's phones. The popularity of using email to send photos has significantly dropped, perhaps resulting from an expanded variety of other channels for sharing photos with friends and family.

While Facebook continues to lead other sharing platforms for photos, with Whatsapp and cloud folders such as Dropbox and Drive and viable alternatives, the problem of collaborating photos from different contributors in real-time continues to be a dreaded problem. With the smartphone being the most frequently used device to capture photos, the process of photo collaboration hasn't been effectively addressed yet.

Taking advantage of this situation, the tech entrepreneur Sahil Bhagat created a group photo sharing app 'Vebbler'. Vebbler uses a camera-first approach to take photos just the way you do, except that instead of saving them into your gallery, you get the ability to instantly sync all your photos with those taken by your friends on the same occasion - in real-time. This ensures that giving and getting photos will never be a problem.

Vebbler Vs Other Apps? What's The Difference?

Bhagat feels that there are certain aspects that definitely makes Vebbler different from the others. One of them being the only photo collaboration platform developed in India.

" While most apps are built on the one-to- many model, Vebbler is designed on the many-to- many model.Having said that, to popularize Vebbler we are currently running a massive Campus Ambassador Program across the major metros of India to mobilize college students and onboard them onto Vebbler through word of mouth. Vebbler is working with over 200 Campus Ambassadors currently and is looking to add several hundred more in the coming weeks," he said .

"Apart from that, we are focusing heavily on influencer marketing with bloggers and avid social media users who will help us drive the messaging for the app. On a strategic front, we have partnered with several event organizing companies as well as experiential travel companies to mobilize groups to use Vebbler in their travels and activities," he added.

Vebbler is soon going to launch video and a web app that supports bulk upload of HD photos. They also recently added eye-catching Art Filters that use artificial intelligence, deep learning algorithms and convolutional neural networks to transform everyday images into astounding works of art.

The Journey Post Funding

Getting funds for your startup is the most important thing. Once the funding is received, then the real journey begins. Sharing his funding journey, Bhagat said Vebbler is currently not looking to raise a round of funding. They are, however, looking to raise a Series A sometime in the future.

Started in June 2013, the team currently comprises of 15 members, including both tech and marketing teams. Vebbler raised $500K (INR 3.34 Cr) funding recently led by a syndicate of 16 angel investors from different countries. The lead investors include Anupam Mittal, Founder & CEO of People Group, Sharad Sharma Co-Founder of iSpirt, Venkat Raju CEO of Kyron Accelerator, Pranav Pai & Siddarth Pai Founding Partners of 3one4 Capital, among others.
