Karnataka State Minister of IT & Biotechnology Shri. Priyank Kharge's government is constantly striving to empower the rural and tier 2 cities within the state with the best of technology.

Speaking to Entrepreneur India at the Bengaluru ItBiz, Mr. Kharge spoke about the positive response he has been receiving at the event – from both the international MNCs and governtment. He desribed the event this year to be bigger, better and sharper than previous years. "The best thing about this event is that the key industry stakeholders have been anchroing this event," he added.

Message for global MNCs who haven't yet discovered Karnataka

Though companies like Intel, Bosch have chosen Karnataka as their hub in India, Mr. Kharge is ambitous about getting more of them onboard.

When asked about what Karnataka is willing to offer versus other states Mr. Kharge said, "I think the theme "Define the Next' also is for companies that are not in Bengaluru. Any company that has come to Bengaluru in the past has had that sticky factor in them and they have stayed here over the years and even multiplied their workforce in the city. Previously it was only services that were here, but now the MNCs are moving their R&D and innovation hubs to Bengaluru,"

"We are the 5th best destination in the world for housing such R&D institues, overtaking places like Chicago, Shanghai, Tokyo and more. That speaks volumes for people who haven't yet come to Karnataka," he adds.

Inviting more global MNCs , Mr. Kharge said, "My message is loud and clear! We are available and open to business! I think there is no other state in the country who is willing to facilitate such organizations coming – whether it is MSMEs or Fortune 500 companies."

Bringing Technology First to India

Nivruti Rai, top India executive at Intel emphasized on the need of staying at par with other nations in adopting the best technology at the same event. Agreeing to Rai's statement, Mr. Kharge said that it's important to adopt every new technology simultaneously with other countries. "The whole idea of having the theme 'Define the Next' in Bengaluru is to send a loud and clear message that Bengaluru is going to future ready and the next thought leadership of technology is going to emerge out of Bengaluru for India," he added.

Along side the event, the Government of Karnataka launched free wi-fi services in eleven gram panchayats to enable the village level entrepreneurs to have access to the online market place. Karnataka also happens to be one of the chosen states where the Japanese government has decided to set up skill development institutes in the country.
